Jean Ann Toomey, O.D.

Dr. Toomey is a licensed Optometric Physician in the state of Tennessee and graduated from the Southern College of Optometry in Memphis. A native of Riceville, she received her bachelor’s degree in science from Middle Tennessee State University in Mufreesboro. 

 
She has practiced with Dean Baggett, O.D. on West Madison Avenue for more than 10 years.
 

Dr. Toomey is a member of the Tennessee Association of Optometric Physicians (TAOP) and the American Optometric Association (AOA) and the College of Vision Development (COVD.)

 
She is one of the few optometrists in the area who practices vision therapy for people of all ages.  Her expertise in children's vision makes her especially good with learning and vision-related disorders.
Dean Baggett, O.D.

Dr. Baggett is a licensed Optometric Physician in the state of Tennessee and passed his state and national examinations in 1983 after graduating from the Southern College of Optometry in Memphis. A native of Dickson, he received his bachelor’s degree in science at the University of Tennessee at Martin.

 

He moved to Athens to establish a practice with Jean Ann Toomey, O.D. on West Madison Avenue more than 10 years ago.
 

Dr. Baggett is a member and has served on committees for the Tennessee Association of Optometric Physicians (TAOP) and the American Optometric Association (AOA.) In 1987 he was voted “Young Optometrist of the Year” and in 1995 “Optometrist of the Year” for his work with TAOP.

 
He recently was one of the first optometrists in Tennessee to pass the American Board of Optometry certifcation examination.
